Pyromaniac Chef

Kathryn Minchew, aka The Pyromaniac Chef, is an amazingly talented former Masterchef semi-finalist, who now runs a bespoke, intimate dining experience from Gloucester Studio, her restaurant based out of a beautiful Scandinavian Kota Hut in her back garden.

Cooking primarily over a wood or charcoal fuelled open fire, eating at her restaurant has been described as like being ‘catered for by a passionate, witty, consummate culinary adventurist.’

Kathryn and I are currently putting together various unique foraging and dining experiences, to be run out of multiple locations within the UK and beyond.

Revills Farm Shop

Opening in 2003, the shop was originally based in an old roadside stable, selling asparagus that had been grown on the fields of the family farm. Over the seasons they introduced even more of their farm grown produce, and with time the farm shop in Defford became fully cemented within the local community.

Nowadays Revills are hugely proud to be able to carry stock from a wide range of local producers, including, amongst many other things, meat, game, apples, pears, plums, damsons and local preserves, as well as an even greater range of their own seasonal vegetables.

With their farm to fork mentality, and hugely talented in-house chef, Alexander McAllister-Lunt, I’m looking forward to working with them on some great projects.

Harts Barn Cookery School

The core ethos of Harts Barn Cookery School is about cooking being for everyone – all ages and skill levels are catered for, and they teach everything from banquets to basics. At Harts Barn, cooking is viewed as an essential life skill, and to back that up they offer classes that are accessible, practical, affordable and fun.

The school was officially opened in June 2011, and as well as the fabulous kitchen setup, also has a wonderful large courtyard area, with earth oven and fire pit for outdoor cooking experiences.

Set on the outskirts of the Forest of Dean, I’m currently in talks with the team about becoming one of their regular foraging hosts.

The Cotswold Cookery School

The Cotswold Cookery School is based in beautiful Ashton Keynes, which is situated on the edge of the Cotswold Water Park and a 10-minute drive from the market town of Cirencester. The business is run by Sarah, who trained at Leith's School of Food & Wine in London and Mel, a professional nutritionist.

Their classes are very hands on and always cooked using quality, seasonal produce, sourced locally from artisan suppliers wherever possible.  The recipes aren't complicated and don’t use pages of ingredients.  They're tried and tested by chefs and nutritionist to ensure they’re fail safe and easy to follow.
